Parking deck, Camps Bay

Scope of work

This exposed Camps Bay parking deck was leaking into the space below, with water tracking through failed movement joints and worn waterproofing across the deck.

• The failed waterproofing and screed overlay were broken out and removed down to the structural concrete slab.
• All movement joints were chased out, cleaned, and refilled with backer rod and a flexible polyurethane sealant before waterproofing began.
• The slab was primed with a bitumen primer, then a self-adhesive bitumen membrane was laid with 75mm side laps and 100mm end laps across the full deck.
• All upstands, columns, and drain outlets were detailed and waterproofed for a continuous, watertight system.
• A protection screed was cast over the membrane before the final paving finish went down across the deck.
